The Life: Disciplined Prayer
March 26, 2018
And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. And when he cam to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” Luke 22:39-40
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the might hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you. 1 Peter 5:6-11
And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:41-42
And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:43-44
And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” Luke 45-46
